AI consulting in Barbados, grounded in systems that ship

I help organisations in Barbados and across the Caribbean decide what to build with AI, review products that are already underway, and turn messy ideas into a plan a team can execute. The advice comes from running live, national-scale systems on the island rather than from a slide deck.

We agree the scope, the fee, and what you will receive before any work begins.

Why Barbados

The island is a proving ground, not a pilot

Barbados has around 280,000 people, one parliament, one set of border controls, and the ability to deploy a system end to end, nationally. When I build here, the work does not sit in a pilot programme. It goes live, serves real users, and produces measurable results.

That matters for consulting. The problems small islands hit first, from fragmented data to thin teams and close regulatory scrutiny, are the problems larger markets meet later. Advice that has survived contact with a national rollout in Barbados travels well to Trinidad, Jamaica, the wider Eastern Caribbean, and beyond.

I have shipped civic and public-interest systems here with the Government of Barbados and for the island's own users. That is the evidence behind the advice, and it is why the recommendations are practical rather than theoretical.

What I do

AI consulting services for Barbados teams

Every engagement starts with a short conversation about the decision in front of you. Scope, fee and deliverables are agreed before any work begins.

AI product review

A focused review before your next commitment

Bring an idea, a prototype, or a proposed approach. I review the user problem, the technical choices and the delivery risks, then work through the recommendations with you.

Ongoing advisory

Experienced input as the work develops

For teams that need regular help with product priorities, architecture choices and delivery trade-offs. We agree a monthly level of support, with scheduled sessions and a defined allowance for reviews.

AI strategy and scoping

From messy idea to executable plan

Turn a broad AI ambition into a sequenced plan. We define the first useful thing to build, the data it needs, the success measures, and the trade-offs to accept along the way.

Civic tech and public infrastructure

AI for public services and transparency

Advisory and reviews for government and public-interest teams improving services, access or transparency, where delivery reality and public trust both matter.

You can read the full detail of the review and advisory offers, including how fees are agreed, on the AI product review and advisory page.

Who I work with

Organisations with real constraints and real stakes

Government and the public sector

Teams improving services, access or transparency, where the work has to land inside existing process and delivery reality.

Financial services and fintech

Organisations where AI has to be defensible, auditable and traceable to its sources, under close regulatory oversight.

Tourism and hospitality

Operators looking at guest experience, demand and back-office automation, where the value has to be measurable.

Founders and small teams

Startups and lean teams that need senior product and technical guidance without a full-time hire.

Proof

Built and run, not just advised

I am not coming at this as a generic consultant. Each system below is live in Barbados, with real users and real constraints, and each one taught me something I now bring to client work.

Yuh Hear Dem

AI-powered parliamentary search with source-linked provenance across 200+ parliamentary videos and 105,000+ transcribed sentences.

Relevant when large volumes of recorded information need to be searchable, with every answer traceable to its source.

yuhheardem.com

Yuh Gettin' Tru?

Island-wide product search across 100+ retailers, 340,000+ products, and 1,000+ searches per day using vector search and LLM reranking.

Relevant when AI-assisted search has to work across fragmented catalogues and still serve real users every day.

yuhgettintru.com

BimOmni

A Barbados-adapted multimodal model, with a small LoRA tuned on 3,500 editions of the Barbados Advocate so it hears local names correctly.

Relevant when a general model is not good enough for local knowledge, and you need to evaluate and adapt it.

alpha.gov.bb

Part of the launch team for Barbados Government's alpha.gov.bb portal, helping bootstrap the programme and ship full-stack work on the forms system.

Relevant when the work has to land inside an existing government team, process and delivery reality.

alpha.gov.bb

Earlier roles at IBM, Ripple, Protocol Labs and the Arbitrum Foundation added years of building tools and products for developers, and that experience feeds into the advisory work too.

Process

From enquiry to agreed scope

  1. Send some context

Tell me what you are working on, the decision you need to make, and any deadline. A link to the product or a short description is enough to start.

  2. Discuss fit and scope

A short conversation to check I am the right person for this, and to agree what the work covers.

  3. Receive a written scope and fee

You get the deliverables, the timetable and the fee in writing before anything begins.

  4. Begin once agreed

Work starts when the scope and fee are settled, not before.

FAQ

What does an AI consultant in Barbados do?

Mostly the work that sits before and around a build: assessing whether an AI idea is worth pursuing, reviewing a product already underway, choosing an approach, and setting the plan a team will execute. The output is a clearer decision, not another strategy deck.

Do you only work with clients in Barbados?

No. Barbados is where the systems are built and proven, but I work remotely with organisations across the Caribbean and further afield.

How much does AI consulting cost?

Product reviews are quoted as a fixed fee once we have agreed the scope, so the price is tied to the work rather than to how long it takes. Ongoing advisory is agreed as a monthly fee. A single focused session starts at $300 USD per hour.

Can you work with government or regulated organisations?

Yes. I have worked with the Government of Barbados, and I am comfortable with the delivery reality and controls that public-sector and regulated environments require.

Do you only advise, or do you build too?

Mostly advise. Some engagements benefit from hands-on technical input or product direction, and that can be scoped separately where it makes sense.

How do we get started?

Email me with a short description of what you are working on, the decision you need to make, and any deadline. I will reply and let you know whether it makes sense to talk.

Need AI consulting in Barbados?

Tell me what you are working on and what you need to decide. I will tell you quickly whether I am the right fit.
